Meet Lane

This sixth grader from Point Harmony Elementary School in Kanawha County is in the process of designing his future – a future as a civil engineer. Lane earned $500 toward his college education by writing a winning essay in the Smart529 “When I Grow Up” Essay Contest. Lane has his sights set on designing “fun stuff” and going to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He knows it will be a lot of school, but he’s prepared for that.
“I like designing and building things,” he said. “I want to build amusement parks and sports stadiums.”
Lane loves math, especially multiplication. Out of the classroom he plays baseball and runs cross country.
Bright futures begin with SMART savings.
