Meet Autumn

Who says good things can’t come from watching television? For Melrose Elementary School fourth grader Autumn Bane it was a viewing experience that sparked her interest in a future career. Autumn wants to be a nature conservation officer.

An essay about her desire led to her winning a $500 college savings account in the SMART529 When I Grow Up Essay Contest. Autumn saw a program where a conservation officer was helping animals and encouraged people to respect nature. The officer helped calm the animals and she found it fascinating.

Autumn loves the outdoors and enjoys fishing, hiking and many other outside activities.

Autumn was excited to be a regional winner in the essay contest and is looking forward to working toward her goals.

“I will have to work hard and spend four to six years in college,” she said in her winning essay. “I hope my dream will eventually come true.”

Bright futures begin with SMART savings.
