Meet Xavier

Future Scientist

Bentley is a confident, outspoken kindergartner at Lumberport Elementary in Harrison County who wants to be a scientist when he grows up. His winning entry in the SMART529 When I Grow Up essay contest earned him $500 to go toward his college education.

“I like studying stuff and all that,” he said. “I’m good at it, and I’m pretty sure I can do it. I want to make medicines to help people with diseases like cancer and celiac.”

Bentley likes math and says doing adding papers is his favorite. He also enjoys being a big brother and hanging out with his family. “We pretty much just go to church, play outside and rest,” he said.
