Meet Bethany

Future Artist

Bethany, 11, loves to draw and has her sights set on being an artist when she grows up. She’s a step closer after winning $500 to go toward her college education in the SMART529 When I Grow Up essay contest.

“I like to draw animals mostly, but I also draw a lot of humans and am working on backgrounds,” said the New Martinsville School fifth grader. “I’m self-taught but I do take an after-school art class and I plan on continuing that.”

Bethany loves to read and is considering specializing her career to be a book illustrator. The Erin Hunter fantasy novels are her favorite. She also plays the clarinet and enjoys listening to country music.
