Meet Joshua

Future Construction Engineer

Joshua, a Harrison County fifth-grader, comes from a very focused family. In fact, Joshua is the fifth person in his family to have a winning essay in the annual Smart529 When I Grow Up essay contest. Joshua has his sights set on becoming a construction engineer and owning a construction company. “When I was younger we had a guy working on our garage, and I just got interested in it,” he said. “I just wanted to follow him around.”

Joshua has learned first-hand by watching and trying his own projects, like building a cabinet. That experience has only ignited his interest in construction. Joshua envisions a future where he builds housing and businesses that help showcase the beauty of West Virginia.

Joshua loves math and science and also enjoys putting his construction interests to work while playing Legos and Minecraft. When he’s not building, Joshua enjoys playing football and baseball.

Bright futures begin with SMART savings.
