Meet Uryan

Future Computer Programmer

Uryan is a well-spoken fourth grader at Tomahawk Intermediate School who has his future mapped out as a computer programmer. Uryan’s convincing essay won him a $500 scholarship in the SMART529 When I Grow Up essay contest.

“I love writing code for computers,” he said. “I took a class called Raspberry Pi that teaches you intro to coding, and I even have a Sphero at home, so I can do programming.” He says he will need to pay attention in his computer class and eventually get a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Uryan loves science because of getting to do experiments and logging the results. He also enjoys playing basketball, playing on his tablet and playing with Pokemon cards. Uryan’s sister and brother have also had winning essays in the SMART529 When I Grow Up essay contest.
